  1. It’s only about 70km from Dalyan to Akyaka, but there’s no direct public transport. You’d probably have to get a dolmus to Ortaca (about 15 mins) then pick up a bus that was going towards Marmaris. Ask them to let you off at Gokova, which is where the smaller road leads off the main road, down to Akyaka. It’s about a 20-30 mins walk downhill. Or you could get a taxi for not much – which I’d certainly recommend on the way back uphill.

This sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is, honest. Lots of people do it, and the dolmus and bus people will go out of their way to help, as everyone knows.

It’s a lovely little village with a good, safe beach.

  2. Hi Tony,

When you mention a hill how bad is it? One of us has walking difficulties and sometimes has to use a wheelchair. Do you still think Akyaka is worth visiting?

  3. It’s a long, moderate hill, and hard going in the heat. But once you’re down at the beach end of the village, it’s fairly flat. Quite a few cafes, restaurants and shops on the flat bit.

  4. I noticed last year the dolmus coop were doing a day trip to Akyaka, it was only about 15 tl (ish) They seemed to have got together to offer more trips last year rather than the usual 1 per day to marmaris and fethiye.

  5. We went on the trip with the bus co-op last September, they take you right down to the beach and pick you up again at about 5pm it is a good trip and once down by the waterfront it is quite flat so good for anyone with walking difficulties. You can get a boat trip along the river also sea going trips, there are also plenty of places to eat. We found it a worthwhile trip, cannot remember how much it cost but not too much, just ask at the bus pick up point by the square.
